FEW FACTS about NEPAL SAMBAT
- The only calender named after the country.
- Introduced by National hero of Nepal Shankha Dhar Sakhwa.
- It was Introduced in 20 Oct 879 A.D., reign of King Raghavdev.
- It was in official use in all the national documents for 889 yrs.
- Even the Shah Rulers, after the unification of Nepal it was in use, evident by Sugauli Treaty.
- Later in 1903 A.D,Chandra Shamsher J.B.R Replaced the Nepal Sambat with Bikram Sambat.
- It has got 354 days per year, and in every 3 year a month named "ADHIK MAS" is added.
